Mercy College
Client: Mercy College Lilydale VIC
In 2012 I was selected to design and construct a Resurrection Window for the new chapel at Mt Lilydale Mercy College. I designed the window as a work in laminated glass, as I believed that this would reflect the modern architecture of the building better than leadlights. Christ is represented by an Indigenous symbol, first as the Crucified Christ in the lower panel and then as the Risen Christ in the upper panel. Rays of light emenate from the Risen Christ (Christ the light of the world) penetrating to the lower panel to represent Christ’s continuing power over death. Crist is also represented as the water of life through the cool concentric formations of the lower panel.
